Local MP visits Stockport Deaf Centre

May 30, 2007 4:45 PM

EarTomorrow morning at 11am, Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell will visit the Stockport and District Deaf Society as part of his campaign to end the staggeringly long waiting lists for hearing aids in Stockport.

Commenting ahead of his visit, Mr Stunell said:

"I am delighted to find out more about the Stockport Deaf Centre. It provides essential help and support to hearing impaired people across Stockport.

"I am campaigning for all local residents to have prompt access to the digital hearing aids that they need. At the moment many local people have to wait over two years for a digital hearing aid."

Mr Stunell will also take up concerns that service users have about the shortage of subtitles available on terrestrial television. ENDS

Notes to Editors:

Members of the press are welcome to join the visit at 11am on Thursday 31st May.

Address: Stockport Deaf Centre, First Floor, Walthew House, 112 Shaw Heath, SK2 6QS.

Please call Brendon Jones for more details on 0161 4067070

If you are a resident of the Hazel Grove constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.

    • If you agree, Andrew Stunell, the Liberal Democrats, and their elected representatives may use the information you provide to contact you about issues you may find of interest. Some of the contacts may be automated. You can opt out of these contacts at any time by contacting us.
