Stunell fights to keep MPs' travel information public

Andrew speaking in the CommonsAn attempt by Conservative and Labour MPs to stop the public knowing about their expenses claims has been attacked by local Lib Dem MP, Andrew Stunell.

Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell said:

"Today an unholy alliance of Tory and Labour MPs will try to change the law to prevent the publication of MPs expenses.

"They should be ashamed of themselves. The public have a right to know how their taxes are being spent.

"Many MPs have had to justify why they expect the taxpayer to pay for so much travel by car and plane. If their travel expenses are public, the evidence is clear that MPs do not treat themselves to such generous travel arrangements.

"This information should be kept public. MPs should not hide behind a wall of secrecy."
