Today in Parliament, Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell asked Tony Blair to give a message of hope to Stockport's 7,000 families who are waiting for a home on Stockport's housing waiting list.
Mr Stunell asked the Prime Minister:
"Would the Prime Minister tell the House what message he can give to the 7,000 families on Stockport's social housing waiting list about when they can have a decent home?"
Commenting after Prime Minister's Question Time, Mr Stunell said:
"The Prime Minister casually dismissed the troubles of thousands of Stockport families who are in temporary or unsuitable accommodation, refusing to offer them any positive message and simply blaming it limited public spending.
"Mr Blair's priorities are way off track. Today he plans to renew Trident warheads at a staggering cost of £75 billion, and almost in the same breath has refused spending on desperately needed social housing in Stockport." ENDS
