New figures show house prices have soared across Stockport compared to the rest of the North West. The average house price in Hazel Grove constituency has now reached £195, 000 which is £40, 000 above average.
Commenting on today's figures, Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell said:
"Prices of houses in Stockport have shot up in recent years. This is pricing hundreds of young people and families out of the market in our area.
"The average price of a house in my Hazel Grove constituency is now £195,143, a 10% increase compared to last year.
"The government has failed families and young people in the North West by a shocking lack of investment in affordable housing. It is no wonder that there are 7,000 families on Stockport's waiting list. The North West got less than half its share of the Government's affordable housing allocation last year, and the pressure is showing.
"I have demanded that the Government drastically increase the amount of money spent on affordable housing schemes in Stockport and across the North West." ENDS
