Today, Gordon Brown delivered his tenth budget as Chancellor of the Exchequer. But with more and more people feeling let down by New Labour, Stockport's Liberal Democrat MPs, Andrew Stunell and Mark Hunter are asking where all the money has gone over the years Labour has been in power.
Commenting on the Budget, Cheadle MP, Mark Hunter said:
"Taxes and red tape have increased year on year but now hospitals are announcing cuts in nursing staff as they slip into debt.
"We have felt the effects locally with Stepping Hill Hospital and our local NHS services falling into millions of pounds of debt. At the same time, Greater Manchester Police are facing a £14 million budget shortfall."
Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell added:
"People in Stockport have had enough of spin. We want an economy that is stable and well managed and based on fairer, not higher, taxes and honest choices.
"We are demanding urgent action to tackle the growing personal debt crisis, and have called on the Government to take effective action to protect our environment and curb climate change." ENDS
