Andrew Stunell MP today called on constituents to protect themselves and their families by making a New Year's Resolution to play it safe with gas in 2006.
Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell said:
"It is essential that people have their gas appliances regularly checked and maintained by a CORGI registered installer. Carbon monoxide poisoning is entirely preventable but can be a silent killer in the home."
Mr Stunell urged constituents:
"Make sure that you pledge to have your gas appliances checked by a CORGI registered installer in 2006." ENDS
Notes to Editors
CORGI and the Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents will jointly launch an advertising campaign in January 2006, warning people of the dangers of CO poisoning in the home.
CORGI - the Council of Registered Gas Installers - is the national safety watchdog, and it is a legal requirement for businesses carrying out gas work in Britain to be registered with them.
