Local MP, Andrew Stunell has signed up to the Save Your 20% Campaign to support this year's Energy Saving Week, and is urging local residents to join him in cutting energy waste and helping to combat climate change.
Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell said:
"The energy we use in our homes produces a third of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, and around half of this is wasted.
"Everyone can make a difference to climate change - turning TVs and computers off standby, fitting energy saving light bulbs and turning down our thermostats by one degree can make a big difference to cutting carbon emissions. Saving energy is good news for household bills too.
"Support this year's Energy Saving Week and take a look at the Energy Saving Trust's website, at www.saveyour20percent.co.uk, to see whether you are 'energy obese' and how you can slim down your everyday energy use."
