This week in Westminster, Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell met the Managing Director of Northern Rail, Heidi Mottram, to press for restoration of the 17.04 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Marple, and for moves to tackle overcrowding on the Hazel Grove line.
Andrew Stunell MP said:
"It is six months since Northern Rail took over these lines, and commuters are looking for more punctual trains, fewer cancellations, and an end to overcrowding.
"We are still waiting for reliability and comfort to improve."
Mr Stunell added:
"At first I welcomed Northern Rail's takeover of commuter routes in our area, but many local people feel improvements are taking too long. I made it clear to Heidi Mottram that the services on these 2 lines must be brought up to scratch quickly."
