Today, Hazel Grove MP, Andrew Stunell joined the Organ Donor Register and called for more local residents to do the same.
Mr Stunell said:
"Thousands of people's lives have been saved as a result of an organ transplant, but there are thousands more waiting for an organ donor. Signing up to the Register only takes a couple of minutes, and saves lives."
"This year is the 10th anniversary of the NHS Organ Donor Register, and they are aiming to register one million more people. Help them if you can by calling 0845 6060400 to register."

Notes for Editors
1. The NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR) is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a national challenge to encourage one million more people to think about organ donation and join the register.
2. The NHS Organ Donor Register was launched in October 1994 to increase the number of donor organs available for transplantation by expanding the opportunities for people to make their wishes known; have a positive record of a person's wishes and make it easier for relatives to agree to organ donation.
3. To join the register, call 0845 6060400 or join online at www.uktransplant.org.uk
4. 90% of the population say that they support organ donation and transplantation, yet only 20% (12 million people) have recorded their wishes to help someone live after they die by joining the ODR.
