Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell is backing Alzheimer's Awareness Week in Stockport.
Andrew Stunell said:
"With up to 3,000 Stockport residents suffering from Alzheimer's, and more than three times that number affected by its consequences, the week is designed to raise awareness.
"Alzheimer's is a very misunderstood disease. We all need to understand that it is caused by a disease of the brain and is not a normal part of ageing."
Nationally the Alzheimer's Society is celebrating its 25th anniversary and is using this week, which runs from 4-10 July to help children and younger people to understand how Alzheimer's can affect someone they know.
Andrew Stunell added, "Alzheimer's Society has produced videos of children talking about how Alzheimer's has affected their family which will be shown in schools. I hope that this will help make everyone more aware of the problem."
