Axe the Tax, calls Stunell

Today, local MP Andrew Stunell presented a petition with hundreds of signatures from local residents to Downing Street calling on the Government to Axe the Council Tax.
Andrew Stunell said:
"My mail bags are full of people writing to tell me that they are sick of the unfair council tax. Everyone can see it's unfair that people on over £100,000 a year pay the same rate as those on £15,000, but the Liberal Democrats are the only party offering an alternative at these local elections."
Andrew Stunell joined Charles Kennedy at the launch of the Liberal Democrat Local Election Campaign today, to deliver the opinions of Stockport residents to Downing Street.
Andrew Stunell added:
"Our Axe the Tax campaign is about negotiating a fairer deal for all. People on low and modest incomes in Stockport would see a tax cut under our plans. Pensioners, who are hard hit by the Council Tax, would benefit the most.
"We are challenging the Government to take the issues that effect people in their daily lives seriously and give real power back to the community. END
