Local MP Andrew Stunell is saying a big thanks to the people of Stockport for supporting Macmillan Cancer Relief's "World's Biggest Coffee Morning." Initial estimates suggest that over £24,500 has been raised in Stockport smashing last year's figure of 20,000 out of the water.
Commenting on the excellent news Andrew Stunell MP said:
"People in Stockport have certainly done their bit to bring more facilities to cancer victims in our area. Coffee mornings big and small will provide the money for vital information, counselling centres and grants for patients in financial difficulties.
"This money will also help to sustain 4 Macmillan community nurses, 4 special support nurses and 1 breast care nurse in Stockport. That's got to be worth a pat on the back for all those who quaffed on caffeine to lend their support.
"We want Macmillan to continue to be there, from the start for the 3 people in Stockport diagnosed with cancer each and every day."
