Local MP Andrew Stunell criticised government plans to slash postal services for domestic users as potentially damaging to small businesses and people working from home. The Post Office has floated plans to abandon an early delivery to domestic premises.
Mr Stunell said, " The Government is not taking seriously the concerns of increasing numbers of small businesses and home workers who work from home and depend on next day delivery to conduct their business"
According to Mr Stunell who raised the issue in Parliament, there are a growing number of home-based workers who need prompt, reliable postal services.
"For some a cut back would just be an inconvenience but for others the implications may be more severe. Such a plan needs a complete rethink."
